Into battle

February 2, 2010

Merrily flicking through Grazia this morning – Brangelina… Alexander Wang sunglasses (cool)…. couture dresses…. Prepare for the combat comeback.

Prepare for the combat comeback.

Even in 1996 when everyone was listening to All Saints, wearing white musk and chokers, combats were on my hit-list. With heels? No no no. With trainers? Not flattering. With Timberlands? Okay, I can accept them with workman boots, on a camping trip (for practical reasons). But for fashion?  They are just so ugly.  Chunky.  Bottom-enlarging.

So why are they terrorising the catwalks again? Why, God, why? I don’t care if the new combat is sleek and skinny, rolled up, or jewelled. Thank the Lord I am not allowed to buy clothes, as this is one trend I can live without.

Even you, Madonna, look silly in the most unflattering trouser known to man.

Hee hee – I used to have some blue ones which were quite comfy… but it suited the student lifestyle better… xxx

Do you remember the ones with tassley bits hanging from them? They were hideous. Although I do remember wearing bright pink parachute pants at uni. And you didn’t stop me. x
