Go go go!

August 27, 2009

I was a little TOO eager to sew this Saturday.  Armed with a couple of pattern cutting books from way back (1954 and 1969), and a tonne of tracing paper I LAUNCHED into making a dress.

One of the easiest places in London to find pretty fabric is MacCulloch & Wallis.  It’s central and super friendly.  It’s also a little treat (as it’s a little dear)

fabricSoooo pretty.

I decided to make a simple dress, with fitted waist and bust but a flared skirt.  Drawing up a pattern can be pretty tedious so I hotfooted through the process like I was being chased by wild boars.

Only once I’d sewn the whole dress together did I realise it was a PERFECT waist fit, but I’d need drastic cosmetic surgery to keep it up.

Me - is the top too big

Thank the LORD for darts and elastic!

Ta daa – the final dress (apologies for the appauling photos, next time won’t try take photos of myself on timer while standing on a basket, I’ll just move the camera)
